Calling on companies to donate this Christmas

The cancer treatment foundation ‘The Gift of Life’ is calling on companies to eschew knickknacks for clients, partners and staff this Christmas in favour of making donations in support of those battling cancer. Charity Christmas cards and boxes of wafer biscuits are also available from the foundation this year.

A donation to the foundation means giving hope to those in Estonia who are suffering from cancer and a chance for them to make the most of a longer life surrounded by their loved ones. Some may even beat their illness completely.

“One way companies can support us is by making a donation instead of handing out the usual corporate knickknacks,” said the foundation’s director, Toivo Tänavsuu. “If they want to support people fighting cancer but at the same time not forget their partners or clients, they can purchase the wonderfully old-school wafer biscuits we’re busy baking up with the team from Vahvlihaldjad to pop in everyone’s Christmas stockings! We have charity reflectors people can buy, too.”

Tänavsuu added that companies can now also get all the Christmas cards they need from ‘The Gift of Life’. “We even take care of the messages printed inside them,” he explained. “Our volunteers can be invited to your Christmas party so everyone can pitch in and make a donation to those battling cancer, and I can come along and talk about the work we do.”

The foundation recommends booking a table for your staff at the ‘Christmas Gala’ being held at Saku Suurhall arena from 14-16 December, which boasts an impressive entertainment programme and at which donations can also be made to the foundation. For more information see www.joulugala.ee.

Last year, the construction company Rand & Tuulberg decided not to hand out token Christmas gifts, favouring a donation to the foundation instead. By way of thanks, the little helpers at the foundation filled the company’s stocking with wafer biscuits.

“The feedback we got was really good, and our partners really liked the idea,” said Rand & Tuulberg office manager Mariliis Kulamaa. “Contributing to a gift like that – helping those in need – really gives you a good feeling.”

Ask for an offer for your company’s very own ‘Christmas solution’ by e-mailing info@kingitudelu.ee or calling +372 5592 2221 (Katrin Kuusemäe) or +372 52 76 004 (Toivo Tänavsuu).

So far in 2017 ‘The Gift of Life’ has supported more than 75 people in Estonia, donating almost 750,000 euros in support of their treatment.
