The Order of the Red Cross, 4th class, will be
bestowed upon Toivo Tänavsuu by the President of Estonia ahead of the Estonian
centennial for his helping of cancer patients. Also, on the 5th four
years passed since the foundation of the Gift of Life Cancer Treatment
Foundation.
“It
is an honourable and unexpected recognition of the foundation’s efforts,”
said Toivo Tänavsuu, the head of the
Gift of Life Cancer Treatment Foundation. “If I could bestow accolade, I
would bestow these on the foundation’s benefactors. Last year more than 20,000
people and companies supported the foundation. We only exist thanks to them. Owing
much to them we have managed to support every cancer patient who has requested
our aid and belongs to our target group – this is the most important fact of
the day.”
The
Order of the Red Cross was instituted by the Estonian Red Cross Society in
1920. It is bestowed for services rendered in the interest of the Estonian
people and for saving lives. The Order of the Red Cross comprises six classes.
The
Gift of Life Cancer Treatment Foundation celebrated its 4th
anniversary on the 5th of February.
