This week the Gift of Life Cancer Treatment Foundation is holding a grand charity campaign called Kingime elu!(Let’s make a gift of life!) to raise donations for cancer patients who have minor children to take care of.
This is the fourth year the national donation campaign is taking place. The campaign is taking place under the auspices of the Let’s Do It! movement. The aim of the campaign is to do it: within a single week – from May 1 to 6 – raise as many donations as possible to make sure all parents of minor children receive crucial treatment in 2018.
On Saturday, 5 May, dozens of the foundation’s volunteers will go to malls all over Estonia to raise Estonians’ spontaneous donations made in cash or by bankcard. You can find the foundation’s volunteers from larger malls and Selver stores in Tallinn, Tartu, Narva, Paide, Rakvere, Viljandi, Võru, Keila, Kuusalu, Saku, etc.
As a tradition, politicians also participate. This year parliament members Jüri Jaanson, Kersti Sarapuu, Helmen Kütt and Martin Repinski make their contribution, for instance.
“The number of young people asking for the foundation’s assistance, who not only have their whole life ahead of them, but also have children to take care of, is ever increasing. Over the last year we supported more than a dozen young mothers or fathers with minor or even very small children,” says Toivo Tänavsuu, the head of the Gift of Life Cancer Treatment Foundation.” With this campaign we want to make sure that these families can be together and no child has to grow without a mother or a father.”
