Volunteers of the
Gift of Life Cancer Treatment Foundation collected donations at the concerts of
State Concert Institute Eesti Kontsert at the Estonia Theatre in Tallinn,
Vanemuine Theatre in Tartu, and the Jõhvi and Pärnu Concert Halls around New
Year’s Eve. More than 3300 euros was raised for the foundation all in all.
Donations were raised at holiday music
concerts “The Singing Snow” and Eesti Kontsert and Hennessy New
Year’s concerts “Nordic Pulse”.
“We met many kinds people, who
spontaneously donated for cancer patients fighting for their lives,” said Katrin Kuusemäe, the CEO of the Gift of
Life Cancer Treatment Foundation. “Some concluded the year 2017 with a
good deed, and some started the new year with one. Everyone who donated became
a little bit more cheerful. We appreciate all the donors and our long-term
partner Eesti Kontsert for having their door open for us.”
In 2018 the cancer treatment foundation
continues its work in making sure that every cancer patient in Estonia has an
opportunity for getting better treatment. At the beginning of the year musician
Toomas Vanem and poet Aapo Ilves wrote a song “Head uut aastat”
(Happy New Year), performed by Anne Veski, Karl Madis, Luisa Värk, Kadi Toom,
Uku Suviste, Henrik Normann and the band Karavan. With this song they rally
people to support Kristi, a 39-year old mother of three in her fight with brain
cancer. The cancer treatment foundation has supported her treatment since the
beginning of 2017.The treatment has been effective and must continue.
The music video will be broadcast on Kanal 2
at the beginning of the year and can be watched here: https://reporter.postimees.ee/4362503/kuidas-meeldib-karavan-sobrad-head-uut-aastat.

In 2017, the Gift of Life Cancer Treatment
Foundation raised a record amount via donations and by other means – nearly 1.8
million euros. Because of this the foundation was able to support a record
amount of people in need. Over a hundred people received crucial help and one
more chance – three times more compared to the previous year.
